Hello,

I'm newly registered here and am trying to familiarize myself with the basics, so I apologize if this question has been asked before. (I did search the Help & Support files, as well as the forum, although not exhaustively). Perhaps I should also clarify that I do not intend to stir up any legal controversies; I'm asking this because I am neither a lawyer nor an expert on copyright issues ... (I'm also not an OCLC spy).

Is there a policy on importing "second-hand" OCLC records? If I were to import some bibliographic records (in MARC21 format) into biblios.net which were originally contributed to OCLC, is that OK? (I would not export the records directly from OCLC, but rather from our local library catalog -- which is why I use the term "second-hand").

If it is OK to do this, do you recommend stripping out OCLC-specific fields/tags (e.g., 001, 003, 035, 994) prior to submitting the record to biblios.net?

Thanks for any clarification and/or advice,

=david
